Reenlisted in 1776 into SC 5th Regiment as Captain. Wounded at Siege of Savannah on 10/9/1779. 1780-1781, a Captain under Col. Robert Anderson (Upper Ninety-Six District Regiment) From 1/25/1781 to 4/30/1783, he was Aide-de-Camp to Brig. Gen. Andrew Pickens. During 1781, he was promoted to Major under Col. Richard Winn (Fairfield Regiment).
