A Captain in SC 1st Regiment later in 1776. A Major in the SC 1st Regiment, resigned 11/8/1779. Major 1779-1780 under Col. Daniel Horry in SC Light Dragoons. 3/24/1781, a Major in Marion's Brigade authorized his own unit - Maham's Light Dragoons. In October 1781, Marion authorized to established two new regiments of SC State Troops. Maham promoted to Lt. Colonel or Colonel in October 1781 as commander of SC 3rd Regiment of State Dragoons. Captured by Loyalists in August 1782, paroled, but effectively out for the rest of the war.

Captured by Loyalists at his own home in August of 1782, paroled, but effectively out for the rest of the war.
